BCMS February Newsletter

Countdown to Milestones
Starting February 9, BCMS notes there are 10 school weeks until Milestones. The school is focusing on keeping testing stress-free while encouraging students to give their best effort and show what they’ve learned. Administrators are meeting one-on-one with students to set academic goals, with a goal of having 100% of students set goals by the end of February.

New check-in/check-out procedures: Checkmate
Banks County School System has a new check-in/check-out system called Checkmate. When checking a student in or out, families should have a driver’s license ready to help verify identity and keep the process safe, secure, and efficient.

Annual Peanut Butter Drive
BCMS is hosting the Interact Club annual peanut butter drive from February 2 through February 20. Students can bring unopened jars of peanut butter to turn in to their homeroom teacher. The class with the most jars will earn a pizza party, and the teacher will receive a gift card.

Upcoming events and athletics
The newsletter includes important dates such as Progress Reports (2/13), Scoliosis Screening (2/17), Kona Ice (2/19), and Winter Break (2/20–2/23), along with several student planning and assessment dates in early March. It also lists upcoming athletic events for baseball, soccer, track, and golf.
