Media Center

Mission

Banks County Middle School media center's mission is to enable students and staff to effectively locate and use information and to encourage lifelong learning.
 
Hours

The media center is open for students and staff from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Students should not be in the media center without a media specialist or media clerk present. Students are allowed to stop by any time during the day to check in/out book.  Students may also come to the media center to work independently with a signed teacher note. Teachers may send small groups of students (five or less) and larger groups should be accompanied by a teacher.  Students who do not have a clear assignment or are not on task will be sent back to the classroom.
 
Check Outs

Students may check out two books (one non-fiction and one fiction) at a time. Library books are checked out for two weeks.  Students with overdue materials will not be allowed to check out additional items.
 
Facilities  &  Materials

The media center offers fiction and non-fiction books for students use. Students can also utilize computers for instruction and to access the online card catalog. This catalog is available to all students and staff on all computers in the media center. The media center can be reserved by teachers for small or large group instruction. There are 13 computers available for students and teachers to use in the media center. Teachers can also access videos, DVDs, novel sets and many other items in the media center collection.
 
 
Accelerated  Reader

Students are able to take Accelerated Reader (AR) tests at any computer with an internet connection in the building.  AR awards are given both monthly and at the end of each nine week period.
