Administration Team

Dr. Kaila Steele is proud to serve as the principal of Banks County Middle School. With 19 years of experience in education, she has held a variety of roles including classroom teacher, instructional technology specialist, director of accountability, assistant principal, and now principal. Her diverse background has given her a well-rounded perspective on how to support students and staff at every level.

 

Having spent most of her childhood in Banks County, Dr. Steele is very passionate about our community. She is a firm believer in the school’s vision: Expect more. Achieve more. Be more. To Dr. Steele, this vision is more than a slogan—it’s a mindset. She believes that when students are encouraged to expect more of themselves, supported in achieving more through meaningful learning, and inspired to be more in character and contribution, they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.

 

As a leader, Dr. Steele believes in the power of collaboration, instructional excellence, and relationship-building. She is a strong instructional leader who values shared decision-making and continuous growth. Above all, she believes in the transformative power of education and its ability to help every child reach their maximum potential.

 

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Steele is married to Sam Steele, a teacher and soccer coach. Together, they have four children—Andrew, Harper, Nolan, and Charlie. Their family enjoys spending their time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and traveling together. Dr. Steele also loves reading and learning new things. She is proud to be a lifelong learner who is always seeking personal growth and improvement.

 

Mr. Chuck Butler serves as the Assistant Principal of Banks County Schools, the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Banks County High School, and the Athletic Director at Banks County Middle School. He has held the role of Assistant Principal for five years. 

 

Before joining Banks County, Mr. Butler gained valuable experience as a teacher and coach across various schools. He spent five years at East Jackson Middle School, teaching Health and Physical Education and serving as the Head Boys' Basketball Coach. Prior to his role at EJMS, he served at Clarke Central High School as a Health and Physical Education teacher, Head Varsity Softball Coach, and Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach. His experience includes six years at West Jackson Intermediate School as a Physical Education Teacher and Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach and five years at Jackson County High School as a Physical Education Teacher and Head Varsity Basketball Coach. He currently serves as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Banks County High School. 

 

Mr. Butler is married to Tanya and has two children, Carlie and Cash. He enjoys spending time with his family and is a dedicated sports fan. He is passionate about supporting his students both on and off the court.
